Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is a German non-profit, private educational foundation active in the Philippines to promote participatory democracy, social justice and international understanding.In our cooperation with non-government organizations, labor groups, the academe and the government, we seek to contribute in strengthening an inclusive political system and a people-centered economic development.FES has been a long time partner of the center in implementing the center’s organizational development and leadership formation program since 1993. Currently, FES helps in the urban governance work of the center
KIOS The Finnish NGO Foundation for Human Rights . The overall objective of KIOS is to support specific human rights targeted projects, implemented by civil society organisation working with human rights issues in developing countries, in accordance with the existing international human rights instruments. KIOS supported the capacity building program of the Bantay Riles Network in 2006.
Institute of Politics and Governance (IPG). IPG enters a partnership with the Center in implementing its project called “Bayanihan sa Kalunsuran: Shaping Good Urban Governance through Collective Action” in Quezon City. The activities will be carried out in collaboration with the Alliance of Progressive Labor-Women and Balikatan. The project is being supported by UK based One World Action (OWA).
Institute for Popular Democracy. The Institute for Popular Democracy is non-profit research and advocacy institute. It houses a multi-disciplinary team of activist scholars who have multi-level engagements with civil society groups, reform-minded government officials and government agencies.
Bantay Riles Network. BRN is a network of community associations along the railways along the Northrail and Southrail areas. It covers associations from Bulacan, Caloocan, Manila, Muntinlupa, Makati, Taguig and Laguna. The network also puts up a chapter in the House of Representatives which is called Bantay Riles sa Kongreso, as an initiative of Rep. Mario Aguja of Akbayan who champions the cause of BRN inside the halls of congress. BRN is led by its Council of Leaders. CPE acts as secretariat to the network. BRN’s call is “Walang Baklasan kung walang sapat na panirahanan” or “No demolition without Adequate Housing.” BRN and CPE has been able to influence and reform the manner of eviction and relocation in Northrail and southrail areas.
LUMABAN KA Conceived in a conference held on 25 February 2007, 21st anniversary of Edsa People Power, the participants decided to sustain cooperation among the different leaders and organizations through a process of forming a network of urban poor associations. In the conference, the participants ratified a common agenda dubbed as “Agenda ng Maralita” or “Agenda of the Poor.” The agenda will serve as the initial basis of unity in the process of forming the new network. LUMABAN KA (To Fight) or Lakas at Ugnayan ng mga Maralita Laban sa Kahirapan (Strength and Unity of the Poor Against Poverty) is an alliance that is being formed through the participation of more than 100 urban poor associations in Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan, Muntinlupa, Malabon, Valenzuela, Las Pinas, Makati, Antipolo, Bulacan, Laguna and Cavite. LUMABAN KA is being formed to advance the urban poor’s struggle for their right to land and housing, right to adequate basic services and employment, and participation in politics and governance. |
